Let's Fly, Kids!

I'm thrilled to find out that AirAsia Philippines will be moving its flights from Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark to NAIA Terminal 4 in Manila. With this move, AirAsia is also joining forces with Zest Air and the partnership will be known as AirAsia Zest.

I've actually had a nice experience with AirAsia when I went to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. It's always known that low-cost airlines serve instant food and has a cramped leg room but to tell you the truth, AirAsia is not your typical low cost airline. You won't say that "you get what you pay for" because the leg room is just enough for your knees not to reach the backside of the seat in front. As for the on board meals, you can pre-order when you book your ticket. The meals are reasonably priced because the portions are just enough to fill you up. Let me just share the meal that I had:

Exhibit A: Roast Chicken with Barbecue Sauce - Not bad and it's not too spicy for my taste.

Exhibit B: This water container - I found it cute. Haha.

I can't remember how much our airfare was at that time but I remember it being cheaper than 2,000 pesos than the other low-cost airline that flies to KK. It may not be that huge but hello, it's still 2,000 pesos saved! Not to mention, the flight schedules are in sync with my schedule so I said YAY to AirAsia.

Other people may say otherwise but all in all, my experience made me consider flying with them again. However the major setback of AirAsia back then is that it's only based in Clark. I don't like the hassle of travelling from Laguna or Manila to Clark. Personally, this AirAsia in Manila thing is putting a smile on my face as it gives me many options whenever I want to fly somewhere...and hide. Haha.

AirAsia Zest flies from Manila to any of these local destinations: Cebu, Davao, Kalibo (Boracay), Puerto Princesa, Tagbilaran, and Cagayan De Oro; and these international destinations: Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Shanghai, and Incheon. Although they still have limited areas, the best part of that is AirAsia Zest can take you to your destination at affordable prices.

That being said, along with my wanderlust and recent penchant for "top lists", I have made a Top 5 list of the AirAsia Zest destinations that I want to visit someday:

1. Incheon, South Korea

I've always wanted to visit South Korea ever since I got hooked on the ridiculously popular Korean series, Goong (Princess Hours). I want to get to experience the culture, try Korean food, shop for cool socks at the Shinpo Market and get to see the Muuido Island for myself. Not to mention I want to experience walking down their kickass airport. Hrhr.

2. Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines

I'm just this dumb because I still haven't been to Bohol. There were lots of plans with my family that haven't materialized due to my Dad's schedule. My dad wanted to visit this place and has been expressing his desire to go there two years ago. Call of duty eh, kaya waley. But I'm hoping that sometime soon, we can travel as a family to this place despite the damage that the recent earthquake brought.

3. Cebu

I'm totally jealous of my younger brother who had a whale of a time in the Queen City of the South. It was his first out of town trip with his college friends and despite his monotone, I know his experience was awesome because his Cebuano friends really knows their turf so they took their group to non-touristy places. I want to experience that too and I want to eat lechon Cebu like there's no tomorrow.

4. Puerto Princesa, Palawan

My classmates from med school went here last summer and they enjoyed so much that they are coming back. This time I will come with them as Suzette already tipped me of their plan. Haha. That's why I love you sis! *sis fist* Based from their pictures, they had a blast and they went to places that you could really call "paradise". Arrgh! So inggit. Lol.

5. Shanghai, China

Since the Philippines' history has been made richer by the Chinese, the better way to trace back it's roots is to actually go to China. I get a kick out of finding out the actual Chinese names of the food that I have grown to love. Hrhr. Plus, I would like to see the development of China from "just right" to a "booming country". Just from your observations of their habits and how they work, you'd get ideas on how to run or modify your daily activities to make yourself more efficient and create more output. Most people don't get that part about me but when I visit other places, I don't only sight-see but I also make sure I learn something out of it.

So now kids, let's remember: AirAsia Zest = the right way to fly if you want to travel without the huge dent in your pocket. I'm a self-proclaimed budget airline veteran so trust me on this one. Mrhrhr.
